Metamorphosis: Refugee House
The goal was to create a temporary home for refugees as they settle down in Canada. Although this space in intended to turn over frequently, as refugees finalize their paperwork, it was also important for refugees to feel comfortable during their stay. This was achieved by creating a sense of community within the home, following ADA recommendations so anyone could live there, and making environmental design decisions. Being new to a country can be very emotional and stressful, some people deal with these emotions differently, and Metamorphosis House strives to accommodate these differences.

SIKA Design New Flagship Store
In this assignment, I chose a fashion designer, and based on their designs and forecasting, chose a location to design a new store.Sika Designs uses bright and traditional fabrics from West Africa; the lively colours can be seen throughout her many seasons. Phyllis Taylor designs her clothing for young international females with eclectic styles. My design will compliment SIKA design’s fashion by implementing the three most important design elements found in her clothing: colour, form, and pattern. The modern, and shapely fashion of Phyllis Taylor will be mimicked with a curvaceous store interior and exterior. Phyllis Taylor prides herself on the quality of her designs and the use of ethical and local materials; my retail design will honour these matters and create a visually exciting atmosphere.
